These introductory art classes on the first Saturday of the month are intergenerational with participants ranging from 8 to 98 years of age and will be taught by talented, seasoned instructors. Classes are approximately 2-hours in length.

Using colorful fabric, glue guns, scissors and other hand tools and materials students will make distinctive art blossoms perfect for almost anything—baby headbands, hair accessories, wreaths, towels, clothing or gift box embellishments, etc.

Explore the endless design possibilities created with acrylic and watercolor paints using fruits, vegetables and other simple forms. Composition basics will be highlighted as students complete an abstract still life in the afternoon workshop.

Valentine Creations in Glass—HEART Designs

Students will learn about the art of fusing glass - how artists design, cut, nip and join together glass elements to create a one-of-a-kind heart pendant, perfect for Valentine's Day. Each participate will arrange small glass pieces to make a beautiful Valentine creation and their glass designs will be kiln-fired and available for pick-up the following Saturday.

Come and learn about the artist, Vincent Van Gogh and create your own dramatic sunflower design using oil pastels and paint. You will amaze yourself and others as you create a one-of-a-kind art piece through a unique printing process. All skill levels welcome, supplies included.

Become comfortable working with clay through simple handbuilding techniques and then unravel the mystery of making pottery by exploring basic techniques of working at the potter's wheel. Clay creations will be kiln-fired and available the following Saturday.

This class is for intermediate and advanced students with enough experience to comfortably center and throw basic forms and wish to take their skills to the next level. Aaron will reveal tips learned over years as a professional potter and instructor at the Ann Arbor Art Center.

This class will introduce students to the essential information needed to draw using the pastel medium and will explore fundamentals of light, shadow, texture and color as students create a personalized composition.

Experience the exciting medium of watercolor without the usual prerequisites; no drawing or painting skills are required and you will get right to work mixing colors and exploring design creatively. Relax, learn and enjoy as you splash into your creative side.
RAKU GLOW—A full day of Glazin’ & Blazin’

This special day and evening event is for artists who have previously visited the studio and would like to glaze and fire their unfinished work. You can also “glaze and blaze” work created at your home or studio if Raku clay was used. We will fire the kilns throughout the day beginning at 10:00 AM and conclude at 4:00 PM. There will be light refreshments, music, laughter and lots of fun. Visitors are welcome.

This is a beginning ceramics class for adult students who want a creative start to their day. Coffee, juice, fruit, donuts and friendly conversation are available, as a variety of ceramic techniques will be explored including coil, pinch, slab and other clay-forming methods. An introduction to the potter’s wheel, glazing, loading kilns and a Raku firing will also be demonstrated. More experienced students are welcomed to work along side.

This studio series provides a flexible schedule for you to develop your personal creative style while exploring the art method of your choice—draw, paint or work in clay. You purchase studio time, have access to art materials and tools, and can join at any time since the series never ends. Miss a class--no problem; simply come another time until your purchased sessions are completed. Learn at your own pace with teaching demonstrations available upon request.

A day of portrait rendering by quick-sketch artists Jerome Washington and Dennis Reid who will capture your likeness in just a few minutes for a nominal fee of $10.00. More detailed renderings will require additional compensation.
