Raku Glow- A day of glazing and blazing - (8th, 11:00am-4:00pm)
Experience the smoke and fire of a dynamic Raku firing method during a 3-hour workshop. Participants will glaze a ceramic piece, assist in the Raku firing process which results in distinct glaze colors, patterns and designs, and create their own very special ceramic art forms. Dress appropriately for a creative time with clay and bring your favorite refreshments and treats.

Glass Fusing
Enjoy some fun and fellowship as you create your own dichroic glass pendent using various colors and forms of glass, including gorgeous dichroic glass during this 3-hour workshop retreat. You will explore basic glass fusing techniques and learn some of the history and advanced methods of this unique art form. Fancy silver or gold-colored “bail” hanging elements are attached to make your pendents ready to wear.

THRIVE is designed for corporate teams and other groups wishing to explore creativity, team building and leadership development through hands-on, non-threatening art activities. This retreat experience involves a full day of engaging studio activities in a relaxing and creative atomosphere. Schuler Arts staff will guide you through artistic learning processes designed specifically for your groups speciall interests and purposes.

OPEN STUDIO provides a flexible schedule for artistic exploration and independent study. Work at your own pace in a friendly, creative environment with helpful suggestions and teaching demonstrations available upon request. You recieve 15 lbs. of clay and have access to all the clay tools and equipment.
Sessions are on Wednesday afternoon 1-4:00 & evening - 6-9:00
$20 per session
PLAY WITH CLAY is two-hour mini clay session that will introduce you to the basic skills of working with clay on the potter's wheel. Simple hand-building techniques will also be demonstrated. No previous experience is required and the lesson will include all the clay and tools you'll need. Up to 3 pieces per participant will be fired and available at a later date. Come ready to get dirty.
$45 per person

Zentangle Drawing & Painting
Feb. 9th (For teens and adults)

Class Fee: $45.00
Learn new art techniques and styles through a relaxed and simple drawing approach. Enjoy yourself as basic shapes develop into complex and colorful patterns and designs, and your finished work will be highlighted with a mat for display. No previous drawing skills are required to experience this joyfully therapeutic art activity. All tools and materials are provided.

In this fast paced workshop, you will learn the basics of the
monotype process. Participants will be working with water based ink monotypes.
This is a hands-on workshop and students will be printing their own monotypes during the class.
About Artist Joan Larsen
Joan is an award-winning artist whose artwork has been exhibited both locally and in statewide competitions. Joan holds a degree in Art Education (K-12) from Western Michigan University (emphasis in painting) and has taught a variety of art classes and workshops to all age groups.

Monotype Workshop
January 19th- Winter Scene Watercolor- Create a peaceful winter scene with watercolors! Painters will create a beautiful winter birch tree painting. Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
February 9th- Valentine Heart Clay Ornament- Use clay to create a customized heart ornament for your special Valentine. Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
March 16th- Shaving Cream Note Cards- Use shaving cream and paints to make a creative note card. Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
April 6th- Create a Bird Feeder- Spring is here and our feathered friends have returned! Welcome them back by creating a clay bird feeder and a small decorative clay bird decoration. Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
May 4th- Keepsake Dish for Mom- Create a small keepsake dish for Mother's Day. Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
June 1st- Fish for Dad- Create a fun fish wall hanging for Father's Day. Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
July- The Studios are Closed
August 3rd- Sharpie Art Coasters- Use markers to create colorful and functional tile coasters! Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
September 7th- Modge Podge Candle Holders- Create glowing, colorful candle holders with Modge Podge and tissue paper. Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
October 5th- Creepy Clay Creatures- We will use clay to create some creepy Halloween creatures! Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
November 2nd- Felt Ball Wall Hanging- Create a festive felt ball wall hanging for the holidays or just for fun. Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
December 14th- Ornaments- Use sequins and felt to create beautiful ornaments. Class is appropriate for children ages five and up with their caregiver.
CREATIVE KIDS SERIES

WINTERFEST
RAKU
Saturday February 2nd
12:00pm –3:00pm
Experience the excitement of an alternative ceramic firing technique often referred to as RAKU. You can simply watch or be a hands-on participant. You may glaze a ceramic piece, assist in the Raku firing process which results in distinct glaze colors, patterns and designs. The session is also for artists who have previously visited the studio and would like to glaze and fire their unfinished work.

Beginning Clay For Adults
Handbuilding & Wheel Throwing—Unravel The Mystery
March 23rd

Cost $45
Become comfortable working with clay through simple handbuilding techniques and then unravel the mystery of making pottery by exploring basic techniques of working at the potter's wheel. Clay creations will be kiln-fired and available the following Saturday.
